The warmth is supplied via the high-quality goose down insulation under Pertex Quantum Y yarn that is weather-resistant, shedding water off its durable water-repellent (DWR) surface, as well as durably rip-proof.

The Pertex Quantum Rip-stop lining fully retains the down as well as the shell outer does but it still allows the jacket as a whole to be very pleasingly lightweight and readily packable into a backpack or its own dry bag when not needed.
