The family Parisotto had the ambition 70 years ago to transform mountain boots into a true object of worship, a symbol of Italy with tenacity, skill and organisational skills over time to become masters. Here's some of their story...

Luigi and his brothers Francesco and Antonio decide to work together, set up their own footwear business and in 1956 took over Scarpa to see their own Italian dream come true. By 1960, the Parisotto family's quality Scarpa shoes and the introduction of Norwegian welt constructions see Scarpa enter the U.S, Canada, German, Austrian and UK markets. Their annual production rose from 10,000 pairs to 120,000 and employees rise from 17 to 50. By the 1970's, Scarpa's collection of footwear has 60 different models and they start to design high altitude boots and produce the first plastic boot called "Grinta" which evolved into their famous best seller the "Vega". This was used to climb all 14 8,000m peaks by scientific and mountaineering teams across the globe as well as armies from many European countries.

Throughout the 80's, 90's and into the 2000's, Scarpa continue to expand, creating over a 100 types of footwear for the ski mountaineer sector as well as the climbing and hill walking fraternity. Today Scarpa has a huge collection of fabric and leather boots for fell and mountain use as well as sticky soled climbing shoes and technical ski boots. At e-outdoor.co.uk we have been proud to stock Scarpa  products for over 30 years now and our range also includes Goretex lined boots and approach shoes.
