The Radial is a great purchase for cyclists who commute to the office over any distance. The pack is designed to have all the features the part time cyclist needs. Firstly a rain cover is included which comes in high visibility yellow for keeping you safe on the road. It also makes sure that the laptop you are carrying in the padded pocket actually stays dry.
Your helmet can be stowed on the LidLock helmet attachment and when you put the pack down, it will stay sat upright thanks to the integrated kickstand. It may seem a small detail but having a pack stay upright makes the bag so much more useful when you arrive in the office. All pockets stay fully accessible and all items remain organised.
All the pockets you want are here including scratch free sunglasses and electronics pockets, key hook, document pocket and plenty more for organising office equipment and bike gear. The interior is all in high visibility green so you can clearly see the contents.
All zips are corded and have large plastic finger hoods, making them easy to open and close with gloves on or cold hands.
Externally on one side, a stretch pocket with elastic holder will take your coffee flask or water bottle and is accessible while on the go. On the other side replacing the traditional symmetrical stretch pockets, is instead a zip pocket which again, is fully accessible with the pack still on. This is perfect too as inside (as well as your essentials) it has a key hook with retractable cord! You can lock/unlock your bike and get in the house without even taking your bag off.
You also needn't hold back on the exercise - the Airspeed trampoline back system keeps the pack off your back, minimising heat build-up and back sweat in case you don't happen to have a shower-equipped office.
The hip belt is minimal and isn't load bearing but the shoulder straps are comfortable, thickly padded and very breathable. The hip belt is more there to keep the pack centred on you and works fine but due to the nicely fitting frame, it is often unnecessary.
There are a decent amount of reflective graphics on the back and rear of the pack and an attachment for an LED light. With the rain cover deployed, an additional LED attachment is given on the cover itself and it also has more reflective detailing so nothing gets covered up.
In summation, this is a good sized pack for cycle commuters in all weathers although it is particularly suited to deal with the heat whether that comes from the sun or from your body. It's for the office worker who travels with a laptop and possibly tablet, lunch, waterproofs, documents and a few bike tools. It's high visibility adds confidence particularly through the autumn and winter and it's a great feeling to know that this was designed to work with cyclists. The pockets work, are useful and make sense! Nothing on the Radial seems there just for the sake of it.
