The Montane Men’s Rock Guide Climbing Jacket has a very sophisticated and technical design and manufacture but the end product is a superb climbing jacket that makes the nuts and bolts of dressing yourself properly for a high-altitude climb simpler than just about any other jacket suitable for climbers.

For example, the hood is designed to be worn under a climbing helmet without any head-turning restriction. Drawcords allow in-use adjustment for fit and two zipped front slots allow the helmet strap to be fed through to sit under the chin.

The hood’s peak is wired and stiffened but still fits neatly under the helmet and the hood is lined with Honeycomb Flash, a 100% polyester brushed mesh that draws moisture away from the skin and there are brushed tricot panels over the ears for additional comfort when used with a helmet.

And all that technology and practical design is just for the hood!

The Pertex Microlight Stretch fabric of the Montane Men’s Rock Guide Climbing Jacket is stretchy, lightweight and breathable. It also boasts the highest rating (100) for water repellency, which causes water to roll off the surface rather than penetrate into the fabric.

As in the hood, the Honeycomb Flash brushed mesh lining wicks away moisture from the skin and hereby increases the dryness, comfort and warmth of the body.

Further evidence of the practicality of the design of the Montane Men’s Rock Guide Climbing Jacket is exemplified by the way the tailoring works to prevent reaching one’s hand up high does not pull up the hem to expose the body to snow and lose body heat and the way the articulated arms work to prevent any seams constricting a climber’s elbows and biceps when he or she needs full freedom and to feel that full freedom.
