Based on the popular Quest jacket, this insulated version features Heatseeker™ for consistent body temperature in the coldest mountain conditions. Seam-sealed and breathable DryVent™ fabric gives you guaranteed waterproof protection inside and out, which is ideal for high-energy activities in wet weather. The hood provides an additional layer of protection, while the brushed knit back neck and chin guard lining provide gentle comfort as you make your way to the top. Adjustable elements ensure a snug fit at all times.
This warmer version of The North Face's popular Quest Jacket will give the hiker consistent warmth during the colder weather. It has the waterproof, seam-sealed DryVent membrane for guaranteed dryness and breathability and Heatseeker insulation for warmth throughout. The Men's Quest Insulated Jacket has a fixed hood with size adjuster, a brushed neck and chin guard for comfort and a hem cinch-cord which is situated in the right hand zipped side pocket.
The North Face DryVent™ is a well-proven waterproof, breathable membrane, how breathable it is in conjunction with the Heatseeker insulation I am not sure. It is an interesting combination that creates a waterproof, windproof, warm jacket that is capable of dealing with some of winter’s worst weather.
I would not personally wear this jacket for a hike in the hills, but for shorter walks or general wear in wet or cold weather – or both; it is just the job, it is weather-capable.
The Quest Insulated jacket feels quite ‘homely’ to wear. The lining is very comfortable and soft to the touch. The jacket fits well, (I wore a medium size), but spacious enough to allow extra layers of clothing in really cold days. It has a stylish appearance supported by a simple but robust construction.
The hood is sufficient with adjustment at the crown for a closer fit. A feature I like is the brushed knit back neck it just gives it that cosy warm feel around the neck almost like a scarf.
There are two hand pockets which are ample for “bits and pieces” and comfortably placed for keeping your hands warm.
A solid all-rounder for Autumn to Winter weather in the town or city. For everyday use, this jacket will handle the chill and rain.
