Mountain weather protection with Gore-Tex for any situation. A light-weight shell waterproof for those who need absolute protection.

Get serious about your mountains with the Mountain Equipment Men's Lhotse Jacket. This jacket, like the Himalayan mountain it's named after, is for men not for boys.

A combination of 3 layer GTX Pro 40D and 80D fabric provides complete weather protection; waterproof, windproof, and of course the best breathability of any hard shell textile. The mix of 40 denier and 80 denier ensures maximum resilience where you need it most with minimum weight and bulk in less exposed areas. The dual tether hem drawcords allow you to adjust either just the back section or the front panels independently, and more importantly it means there are no dangling loops of cord to catch your ice axe or crampons on.

Your muscular physic is enhanced with the tapering form of the jacket that also includes articulated pre-shaped sleeves for comfort and easy reaching as you attack Gulley Five on the north face of Ben Nevis. Three exterior pockets all reside above your harness line and are generously sized for thick mitts or a map in your Napoleon pocket. They are all fitted with moulded Aquaguard zips and are highly developed internally such that any water that does manage to get thru quickly drains away to the bottom of the zip. Large 2-way YKK moulded Aquaguard front zip has an internal storm flap with press studs top and bottom.

The cuffs have a large area of velcro, so you can be sure they'll stick even when snow and ice are trying to clog them up. Adjustable, they are wide enough to take a high insulation glove cuff or wrap around a narrow gloveless wrist.

Such a great technical weatherproof shell, with an active fit. The cut is slightly long so it won't ride up if wearing a harness, this is also a perfect length for rain protection. Pockets are spot on. There is enough room to layer up in, and underarm vent zippers to use when you need a wee gust... Watch as the heavy rain beads off the Gore-Tex Pro shell, it will fill you with confidence to go on in even the most brutal of weather. The hood is nice and big for use with a helmet. And without a helmet, i can be sinched down with various cords for a more custom fit. It feels nice and snug. Unhindered hood view's is also a plus. I will use this mostly at home in the Scottish Highlands. To be honest this robust waterproof would suit most outdoor activities from mountaineering to fishing and dog walking. I wouldn't wear it hunting or stalking as being Gore-Tex Pro it is slightly louder when moving in it. But if this is the trade off for maximum weather protection, I suppose you wouldn't care how much noise it makes. In my opinion, the Mountain Equipment Lhotse Jacket ticks all the boxes. I would recommend this to anyone that loves the great outdoors.

After 25 years of service my North Face has finally stopped keeping me dry. I do a lot of fell walking so I had to get this purchase right. Did quite a bit of research and decided on the Lhotse. Got a cracking price on this from e Outdoors and it arrived within 3 days so excellent service. The jacket is brilliant. My sizes are 6 ft tall, 38 waist, 46 chest and the fit is great with room for 2 or 3 layers underneath but it is not too bulky just worn over a tee-shirt. It is also very well put together and has a heavier material on the usual friction points so I can see it lasting a good while. Went out for a walk on the South Downs on a day where it was coming down stair rods to try it out and I was completely dry underneath. It has plenty of useful pockets and has vent openings under the armpits to stop you sweating too much. Over the moon with my purchase and will buy the Firefox trousers to complete the outfit.
