The Rab Men's Microlight Alpine Micro Down Jacket is a firm favourite with the outdoor enthusiast. With its many features and good qualities it is the must have winter jacket this season.
The Alpine Microlight Jacket from Rab is designed with the outdoor enthusiast in mind. The Pertex Microlight is well balanced, providing lightweight weather protection whilst remaining durable and abrasion resistant. It's softness allows down and synthetic insulation to fully loft. It's soft to touch and windproof and many more features including a hood that fits a helmet comfortably and has a wired peak, giving warmth and protection when out on exposed parts of the mountain. The mini stitch through baffles contain Nikwax treated Hydrophobic top quality goose down so this jacket is going to perform brilliantly even on damp, snowy climbs or caught out in a storm. It packs down into it's own stuff sack so there's more room for other gear or a waterproof in your pack.

This jacket ticked all the boxes for me as it's lightweight and warm especially when you are wearing layers. On a mildly cold day you could wear a t shirt under it and be comfortable, warm and for lower temperatures some layering does the trick and you're lovely and warm in no time at all. The jacket is water resistant but ideally in heavy I'd recommend wearing a waterproof shell over it to protect the Down and the life expectancy of the Jacket as remember its stated water resistant not waterproof so don't confuse them. As soon as you start moving in this jacket the warmth builds up almost immediately so it really is good to have it handy in your pack for when you start to feel the cold, and as it's so lightweight putting it way in your pack till needed is not a problem as it only takes up a tiny bit of room and weighs next to nothing
