It's 3 am, the moonlit sky is clear the snow is crisp and the climb is yours for the taking, if only you could stop shivering and focus.

Mountain Equipment nailed the design for technical duvet jackets nearly forty years ago with the Lightline and through continuous product improvement it remains a benchmark by which many others are measured.

Far from being stuck in the 70's the Lightline is made for the demanding requirements of modern mountaineers to bring extraordinary warmth in freezing conditions.

The outer defies wind and sheds most moisture, but of course is highly breathable. A substantial quantity of high loft pure Codex down, with a simple stitched through construction to keep the down evenly placed avoids cold spots. The reinvented detachable hood insulates one of the biggest heat generators – your brain – ensuring you can think straight, as well as see straight, even in howling icy winds. Large hand warmer pockets and an internal zipped pocket with stuff sack. Micro fleece lined collar and chin guard.

I recently saw this jacket in another store whilst out on a very cold late December afternoon, but unfortunately someone had spilt coffee down 3 of the only montane jackets they had in stock. So on our way home I did an internet search and came across e-outdoor also offering a discount on the jacket, which was nice. So after reading a couple of reviews I made the purchase, saving myself £30.00. Delivery was spot on time and the jacket was very well packaged. On 1st wearing the montane jacket I noticed how light it was compared to my North Face jacket, and also even warmer, considering The North Face has a fleece inner jacket. I'm very impressed, and also the fact it has a bag that you can (somehow) pack it up in. I will definitely check out e-outdoor for other outdoor/camping related products.

I have been a North Face man for years, but after purchasing this jacket I am converted. It is the warmest, lightest most comfortable jacket I have owned. e-outdoor were fantastic. They shipped it to me next day with no issues on the week before Christmas. They sent various emails, from order to inform me of dispatch and delivery. Very impressed overall.
