Stay warm in this down-insulated walking jacket designed to keep you warm even on the coldest of days. This Helium jacket from Jack Wolfskin is fantastic for cold weather walkers and travellers.
The Jack Wolfskin Helium down jacket is insulated with 90/10 700 fill duck down. 90 represents the percentage of down, and 10 represents the percentage of feathers. A higher percentage of down generally means higher quality insulation. This means the Helium has a good warmth – to – weight ratio.
The lack of features means that a low weight of only 410g is achieved. It compresses down into its own pocket for easy storage in the rucksack or holdall. You could even use it as a soft pillow when camping! The styling is larger baffles than the popular micro baffles to give it a more everyday look. The down distribution is still effective. The fit is comfy and the hood fits nicely and isn't too intrusive when not in use.
The hood, cuffs and hem are elastic bound, there are no drawcords to cinch any openings. The outer fabric is DWR treated to be water resistant, but the down is not water resistant, if water penetrates the outer fabric then the down it will lose some of its thermal qualities. This high quality, the minimalist jacket has two side zipped hand warmer pockets with contrast colour inner and embroidered logo on the chest.
The Helium down jacket features minimum weight for warmth, that is why it has minimal features. It is very light but there is a compromise, e.g. a hem cord to cinch around the hips would probably retain heat better. The Helium Down Jacket compresses into its own pocket making easily storable, and readily available should the weather get colder.
An excellent jacket to have when weight really matters, for such outdoor activities as hiking or travelling. This could be used as a mid layer, to easily fit under a hard shell jacket. Add some extra breathable but insulating layers with the wider range of Jack Wolfskin Clothing.
