The Extrem jacket from British brand Berghaus is perfect for cold weather walking and climbing in low temperatures. The tightly woven Pertex Quantum fabric will stop the wind dead in its tracks and help protect the Hydrodown water repellent insulation that is packed into the baffles. The Hydrodown is body-mapped so there is more in the areas where warmth is needed and less under the arms for example, where you often get too hot when working hard. This jacket has a helmet-compatible hood and three pockets to keep essentials safe.
The main feature that makes the Berghaus Men's Extrem Micro Down Jacket stand out from many of the other micro down jackets on the market is it's body mapped Hydrodown insulation. The baffles on the core of the jacket and across the tops of the arms are larger and thus contain more down than under the arms. The smaller baffles under the arms help to avoid that 'bulky' feeling, but more importantly under our arms is where we tend to get warmest when working hard, and this is where we need greatest breathability. The Exrem Micro down provides maximum insulation where we need it most across our core, and maximum breathability where it is most required under our arms, thus increasing its working efficiency.
The Exrem Micro has an Alpine style cut reducing any unnecessary material bulk and helping the micro climate under the jacket to work better to keep you warm. The goose down insulation is hydrophobic powered by NIkwax this is a treatment that is PCF free helping our environment. Berghaus say that the hydrophobic down will maintain it's insulating properties in 'wet','damp' conditions for up to 16 hours.
The outer fabric is Pertex Quantum, this is wind resistant yet still breathable. It is also highly abrasive resistant which makes the Exrem Micro ideal for climbers.
