Mammut is a multinational company from Switzerland founded in 1862 by Kaspar Tanner from Lenzburg.
Mammut started out as a rope manufacturing company and over the years began making climbing, ski safety, mountaineering clothing and sleeping bags, teaming together with other brands like Ajungilak and Schoeller to create items still loved and used today. Like soft shell pants for example, which are breathable, windproof and quick drying and much better than the wool versions of the past.
Mammut started using Goretex in their jackets by 1978 and introduced their own range of backpacks by the late 80's. Another well known Swiss footwear brand, Raichle was taken over by Mammut in 2003, so up to the present day Mammut own three major divisions, have nearly 500 staff and are still headquartered in Seon, Switzerland manufacturing snow sport, hiking and climbing equipment.
At e-Outdoor we are great fans of their footwear range in particular and currently stock men and women's light hiking shoes and trekking boots for more challenging terrain.
