Hoyt Buck was a young Kansas blacksmith apprentice who was looking for a better way to temper hot steel so that it would hold it's edge longer and with his inquisitive nature in 1902 the first Buck Knife was produced. Hoyt Buck hand made knives using worn-out file blades as raw materials. In 1945 H.H. Buck & Son knife shop was set up by Hoyt and his eldest son Al and as the shop developed into a thriving business it was kept amongst the family. When Hoyt Buck died Al kept the business running and introduced his son Chuck to the knife business at an early age. In 1964, the knife industry was revolutionized with the introduction of the Model 110 Folding Hunter, making Buck Knives a leader in the field.
Buck are a very personal family focused company and continue to follow in the family footsteps by developing and creating innovative new products and improving existing products to the highest standards.
