Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Tendon Ambition Rope 10.5 x 50m'


As with all Tendon climbing ropes, the standard finish of the Ambition provides an additional degree of water and abrasion resistance as compared to the standard models of most other brands which offer virtually no water resistance at all.

Tendon Midpoint Marking:

The halfway-point of the length of this rope is clearly marked with a different colour. This increases safety when lowering/abseiling from routes, by warning the belayer of the length of rope remaining. This feature of Tendon can be particularly useful in sport climbing.
