Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

This new 3-in-1 jacket will appeal to fans of the trusty old parka! It has a slightly longer cut and is every bit as rugged as its illustrious role model. The hood has the typical parka-style fake fur trim, which helps protect the face from the cold and the wind. When it came to the choice of fabrics, JW also opted for a couple of tried and tested classics. The shell jacket fabric is waterproof and breathable and has an Oxford weave that gives it a rugged look and good durability. The inner jacket consists of our standard-issue winter fleece, versatile NANUK 200. In keeping with the legacy parka style, the WESTPORT JACKET is equipped with several large patch pockets.
