Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.

"Very warm, comfortable jacket and a good fit (Large - Im 6 and 12.5-13 stone). My only minor gripes are that the fur is very long and gets in my mouth(!) and that the jacket gapes a bit at the neck even when zipped fully to the top - I have bought a fleece neck gaiter which sorted this for v cold days."

"This is a great jacket. very warm yet light and comfortable with a good variety of pockets. I would give it a five star review but the description says that one of the hand pockets has a security clip for keys which it doesnt, well mine hasnt. Otherwise the jacket is great and i would recommend it."
