Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

At a mere 5 ounces, the full-size Leatherman Skeletool has a stainless steel blade, pliers, bit driver, removable pocket clip and carabiner/bottle opener. The Skeletool is just what you need, and not an ounce more. For the pack you're bringing in, or the hydration pack you're peddling, the Skeletool is all function (and none of the fluff) in one good lookin' package. The bare, stripped-down aluminum frame is gleaming and sleek but not just mean looking the Skeletool also happens to be a great idea come to life. It’s the multi-tool you might actually carry around with you, with a few essential functions—a knife, screwdriver, pliers and a bottle opener—but surprisingly little weight. At 5 ounces, Leatherman claims this is the lightest full-size multi-tool ever. The stainless steel blade and bottle opener are accessible when the tool is closed.

For something that looks so rigid and unyielding, the Skeletool feels almost cushy to hold. The design is asymmetrical, sloping slightly when it’s closed, and curving to fit the shape of your hand when the handles are open. The screwdriver isn't hinged and tucked away, but in a fixed position, ready to be used as soon as you open the tool. And the extra double-sided bit fits into the handle, giving you a total of four bit sizes (two flathead and two Phillips).
