Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

The Hogan XT has a unique Shock Cord Suspension system for speedy erection. The design of this lightweight tent combines the strength and roominess of an arch with the superior snow-shedding capabilities of a more steeply angled A-frame and the bombproof stability of a ridge pole. Inner tent forms a triangle around the foot-end providing even more room.

"Since sailing twicw solo around the UK, I need a new challenge I have decided to go back to cycle touring, this new Vaude Hogan XT tent is going to be part of that, I have erected it in the garden it is well made ideal for all my kit and will keep my Thorn Sherpa cycle dry."
