The Gri Gri is a self braking decender and sport climbing belay device. It is for use on single ropes 10-11 mm UIAA dynamic rope (9.7 accepted). It is possible to take in and pay out very smoothly and quickly with the gri gri, and it will lock on abseiling if the user lets go of it. While belaying, its camming action means that a sudden pull on the rope will lock the device, while a more gentle pull will allow the rope to feed. It is not a hands off belay device but rather an aid to security. The sport climber's choice
Features:
- Giving/taking slack is done by using both hands to slide the rope through the device
- Falls are held by holding the free end of the rope with the brake hand
- For lowering and rappelling, the rate of descent is controlled by the hand holding the free end of the rope (the rope is released with the handle)
