Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'D.M.M Big Boa Locksafe Carabiner'


The offset shape gives the Boa a lot of extra strength without compromising it's core function as a HMS, this means that not only can it handle standard HMS duties well - belaying, italian hitches - but it provides a lot of extra capacity and safety when it comes to rigging. It handles all tasks really well and is particularly popular with arborists and industrial users

Features:

  • Large and very strong offset HMS carabiner. Locksafe barrel has a 3 way action that adds an extra degree of safety, but is not as easy to open one handed
  • Uses a 7075 barrel with great push-in strength and has a non-binding gate that won't lock-up when the biner is tightened under load
  • Anodised for protection against the elements especially coastal and rigorous mountain environments
  • Weight 3.74 oz / 106g
  • Strength: Closed - 28 kN; Open - 10 kN; Minor Axis - 12 kN. Gate opening: 23mm
