Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Mammut Mt Envy GTX Mens Boot'


The Mt Envy GTX Mens Boot builds on the reputation of the Motion Control system as seen in the popular All Degree Lite which provides a high degree of stability through the heel, without inhibiting comfort or the natural flex of the boot. Memory foam through the tongue and ankle area further improves both fit and comfort. Gore-Tex lined for maximum water resistance, and features a shock absorbing Vibram Mulaz sole unit for the optimum in grip and impact protection.

The highly regarded internal Motion Control Concept combines good heel stability with a natural, rolling forefoot flex. A full-on rubber toe rand and Vibram Mulaz sole round off this lightweight but uncompromising boot, and give superb all mountain performance.
