Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Vibram Five Fingers Flow Mens Barefoot Shoes'


For more insulation, go with the Flow. Whether running in colder temperatures or crossing a stream with your kayak, the Flow provides comfortable barefoot protection. It has a 2mm neoprene upper for thermal insulation and an adjustable strap with hook-and-loop closure across the instep and around the heel for a secure, personalized fit. An EVA footbed provides additional insulation and protection. The bottom features a razor-siped Vibram IdroGrip performance rubber outsole, which offers added slip resistance over a variety of surfaces. Please note that while it offers more slip resistance, Vibram Idrogrip rubber is a marking compound.
