Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Meindl Meran GTX Mens Hiking Boots'


The Meran is fitted with natural cork footbed, and is very comfortable to wear and will be well pleasing due to its generous and comfortable width. The GTX lining ensures that your feet stays dry throughtout your hike. These boots are ideal for those with a wider forefoot. The Comfort Fit Last concept gives a wider base and more volume for your forefoot.The ball point is more distinctly shaped and the area around the large toe is straight, thus avoiding pressure on the ball. Also compared to a trekking last, the upward bent shape of the comfort fit last is much more pronounced, which means less resistance and improved heel-toe walking.

The proven Multigrip design of its sole, with very pronounced profile is at its best in these shoes. It has sharp heel and new cleats for good grip. The EVA wedge accross the entire forefoot area reaches down to the tip of the sole and ensures perfect cushioning.
