Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

The North Face Apex McKinley Jacket:

Seal out the iciest of winds with the technically efficient and stylish Men’s Apex McKinley Jacket. The soft shell features the acclaimed and breathable TNF Apex ClimateBlock fabric, wind permeability rated at 0 CFM for maximum protection as you hike, run or ride, while a water resistant finish helps to shrug off showers too. Inside, a fleece backer adds to the snugly warm feel, while a brushed collar lining leaves it luxuriously soft against the neck. Adjustable hem and cuffs help to seal out those distracting gusts of wind, two zippered side pockets keep hands warm in the cold, and a patched chest pocket offers storage for essentials.
