Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

Luxuriously warm yet reliably hardy, the Women’s NSE Tent Mule III Boots are the slip-on your feet would choose for downtime in extreme cold. Featuring plush 450 fill power down and feather insulation for chunky but lightweight warmth, this is a great shoe for relaxing at base camp before or after ascents to the top. Despite the low profile and cosy appeal, the slip-on also boasts tough construction too, its durable ripstop upper resisting water and abrasion – and it’s engineered from recycled post-consumer plastic waste for environmental peace of mind, too. Underfoot, the nylon mesh base features grippy plastic lugs for traction on slick surfaces, while inside there’s a sock liner for an extra dose of comfort.
