Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Barbour Quilted Hunter Mens Hat'


Following from earlier line of Barbour's Hunter Hat, this newer version comes complete with waxed outer and quilted inner. It is warmer due to the addition of the quilt lining and the wax outer makes it waterproof. So you can enjoy your walks in the countryside without worrying tooo much about catching a cold!

Barbour Quilted Hunter Mens Hat Features:

  • Sylkoil wax coated 100% cotton outer.
  • 100% polyester fleece lined crown and faux fur lining.
  • Earflaps and neck FlapsStud fastenig front peak.

Sylkoil: Barbour oldest and more traditional wax cotton is called Sylkoil. This is an “unshorn” wax where the cotton comes straight from the loom while it’s slightly fluffy and is then dyed and waxed. The natural imperfections of the weave are reflected in the rich variations of colour and finish and over time, this fabric softens into a lovely slightly peachy looking cotton between waxes.
