Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

Meridian Men Jacket Technologies:

  • TEXAPORE 4X4 OXFORD 2L: The smooth OXFORD NYLON shell material is tough and has an inner surface that is coated with TEXPORE 4X4. This microporous PU coating makes the fabric waterproof, windproof and breathable. The material has a MVTR of 4000g/m2/24h and a water column specification of 4000mm.
  • BASIC HOOD: The basic hood is usually detachable. It is well attached down the collar of the jacket using press studs or a zipper and forms a reliable weatherproof unit with the jacket itself.
  • NANUK 150: Lightweight polyester fleece fabrics with a velour finish on both sides and outstanding warmth-to-weight performance. These fleeces are highly breathable, easy care and fast drying and are ideal a mid layer solution.

Jack Wolfskin Meridian Men Jacket

The new MERIDIAN MEN is one of the lightest 3-in-1 jackets in our range (just 1095 g in size L) and is a great option through winter and the transitional seasons.The fabrics and features are selected for performance and weight-optimization (e.g. water resistant zips). For the inner jacket, we have opted for 150 weight fleece, with a medium insulation rating suitable for the period from autumn through to spring. The shell jacket is waterproof and windproof and is reinforced with super-robust TEXAPORE 4x4 OXFORD on the shoulders and sleeves.

To accomodate an additional fleece layer for extremely cold conditions, the MERIDIAN is equipped with an asymmetric fron zip, which prevents the zip pullers on the component layers in the system bunching uncomfortably at the neck.
