Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'The North Face Base Camp Hot Shot Backpack'


The North Face Base Camp Hot Shot is a 15” laptop compatible daypack built in bombproof Base Camp Duffel material. Built to last and endure, this new daypack in the Base Camp Collection melds the design of the popular Hot Shot pack with rugged duffel fabric. The 30 litre capacity is divided into a large main compartment and a smaller secondary compartment with organisation. Tough but comfortable to carry due to anatomically shaped FlexVent™ injection moulded padded shoulder straps and a padded Chemise back panel with Spine Channel and PE sheet for extra back comfort and support. The Back Saver bottom panel reduces back strain. Includes a tablet sleeve. The North Face Base Camp Hot Shot is hot to trot!

"A fantastic bag. At first I was somewhat skeptical as to the comfort that the fairly firm shoulder straps would give, but having worn it with a good few kgs in it, I can say that my first impressions were incorrect! It really is waterproof, and has kept my gear dry through some heavy showers weve had recently. The waist strap could do with some padding, but apart from that, the bags a great all rounder, whether it be for walking to uni/college through the rain, or for going out for a days walk in questionable weather, it should fit the bill. I have yet to where it for an exped, but that should be some time soon! "
