Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Meindl Chile MFS Womens Walking Boot'


The Meindl Women's Chile MFS boots are comfortable boots for all day walking, for easy hikes on marked paths or low level hills. With Gore-Tex lining guarantee to keep your feet dry and Vibram rubber sole to offer grip over any terrain, this sole is then combined with an MFS Air-Active footbed to help absorb impacts to create one of the best pairs of walking boots ever made by Meindl.

For an even better fit, after wearing the shoes for 5 minutes, your body temperature moulds the FMS foam in the ankle supports to the exact shape of your feet. Then the shoe should be tightened up.
