Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

Reviews:

Great boots, and "favourite slippers" comfortable right out of the box. I have rather odd shaped feet, and struggle to find well fitting boots, but these fitted better than any other boots that White and Bishops stocked. Not 100% convinced by the lambswool inserts - they are wonderful when new but I suspect they will form ridges with repeated use. New footbeds are a cheap and easy fix, so I'm not really concerned. I've only used them half a dozen times so far, but am really pleased with my purchase.

Anatom Quadra Q3 Boots

A lightweight full grain leather boot with extra support for hill and mountain walking. Designed with comfort in mind, and with a patented Vibram sole, the Q3 is a solid and versatile boot.

Waterproofness, breathability and durability – the heart of Anatom tri.aria micro-porous membrane. Allows moisture vapour to pass through yet prevents water from entering the footwear’s upper. The unique tri.aria performance system plus the incredible support offered by the Calibrated mid-sole gives the mountain walker real confidence underfoot.

Vibram Grivola outsole provides tremendous grip in all weathers. Its durable compound ensures extended life and extremely high friction on all surfaces. The Grivola is designed to expel unwanted stones very effectively on all terrains.

When support and comfort is demanded while hiking in the toughest of environments the Q3 is there to deliver mountain performance. Using the best Italian 2.5mm full grain leather the Q3 is able to keep the feet warm and dry while protecting them from the rough terrain underfoot.
