Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

Petzl E+Lite Head Torch

'Petzl E+Lite Head Torch'


The E-lite is resistant to extreme temperature and comes with a protective carry case made from reinforced plastic. It is waterproof and therefore completely weatherproof with a coin sealing battery case. At only 27g, the E-lite is incredibly lightweight and can shine up to 19m, lasting up to 45 hours. With batteries included, the E-lite is ideal for any walker, runner or anyone likely to get caught in the dark.


Long-term dependability, even when kept for years in harsh conditions:

  • Works in extreme temperatures: - 30 °C to + 60 °C (-22 °F to +140 °F)
  • Always ready for use: can be stored with batteries for up to 10 years and still be operational
  • Waterproof down to -1 m
  • Can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres (see specifications for certification level)
  • Compact and ultra-light (28 grams), so it can always with you
  • Designed to prevent accidental operation with locking switch.

Performance lighting:

  • Two white lighting levels (maximum and economic)
  • One red lighting level
  • Two flashing modes : white or red (for signalling)
  • Shines enough light to allow easy movement in the dark: shines up to 19 m
