Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

The new Red Chili Durango VCR is cool, clean and very adaptable. The Durango VCR is a great all rounder and by using a VCR entry it gives an excellent alternative to its lace up twin. And though at a great price the quality of this shoe puts the lie to the adage that economical means cheap!!

Totally revamped, it features wider more supportive VCR straps, which, clamping the foot better allow the firm platform below to be exploited to the max over a wide variety of styles.

And like it's lace up brother it has a broader toe and medium last, that accepts a wide range of foot shapes yet still retains an edge for more delicate and precise action.
A durable and solid all rounder the VCR is at home anywhere you are and makes a perfect shoe for moving through the grades indoors, outdoors or bouldering.
