Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

GORE-TEX extended comfort footwear is guaranteed to keep you dry and offers and extended range of comfort. Engineered to be used during high output activities Gore-Tex is essential for waterproof protection and enhanced breathability.

Delivering optimal traction on varied surfaces, Salomon’s CONTAGRIP outsoles use the ideal combination of specialised rubber for each specific use.

The Cosmic 4D Features:

"I researched all the Hiking/Walking Boots and decided on Salomon Cosmic 4D GTX Mens Boots, God im glad I did they are so comfie. I ordered Them Saturday, you Acknowledged straight away, Monday you said you sent them and with who and Tracking, Tuesday they were here. I went walking in Yorkshire Friday. Shame you didnt have size 4 for the wife. I ordered Hers from probably the largest outdoor Company M-----s. Well didnt hear a thing till Thursday They turned up Tuesday and She had to wear her old ones. "
