Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'VauDe Power Lizard UL Superlight Tent - 2 Person'


The Power Lizard is a single-arch, double-wall tent and weighs just 1000 grams. The lightness isn't at the expense of performance or practicality and it won a Gold Award for innovation at last year's OutDoor trade show in Germany.

Practical features include a decent vestibule for sheltered cooking and kit storage and mesh vents for good venting.

Verdict:

The Vaude Power Lizard UL is extremely light; very stable due to Power Frame; good-sized porch and inner for one person; easy to pitch; inner can be removed for striking tent in the wet. But it’s not really a two-person tent; there are lighter tents if weight is your top priority; high price tag. In summary, the Vaude Power Lizard UL is an excellent light, stable tent for solo camping in comfort.
