Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'Mammut Cypress GTX Womens Hiking Boot'


The Mammut Cypress features fine-grade nubuck leather, plush cushioning, Air-Mesh ventilation, a GORE-TEX Performance Comfort Footwear membrane for guaranteed waterproofness, smooth-gliding laces, abrasion-resistant Liquid Rubber reinforcements at the toe and a vibram HLX sole with a soft EVA wedge. Key safety features include the Mammut Frog Grip sole design and Mammut Rolling Concept for optimum support and guidance.

The Mammut Foot Mapping System addresses the very different zones of the foot: those that sweat, that feel the cold and that are pressure-sensitive. Mammut Foot Mapping locates cushioning, warming, cooling, slip and non-slip lining materials in all the right places.

The Mammut sole concept with customized support and cushioning to support natural foot roll, and thus prevent fatigue (danger of twisting). The hexagon studs in the Frog Grip sole, designed in cooperation with vibram, ensure maximum grip on any surface. Based on the hexagonal surface structure of frog feet into this sole.

This system is based on the three functionalities of support, damping and climate control. Different footbeds accentuate different functionalities – up to two at the same time. The footbed used depends on the main activity for which the boot is designed.
