Footwear Guide
  • Walking boots need to be a half to full size larger than your normal foot size to allow for the wearing of walking socks.
  • The actual fitting shape of the boot is brand dependent - different brands will hold your feet differently.
  • Allow for a finger's width fitting down back of a walking boot when wearing but before lacing up.
  • The boot shouldn't have any noticable pressure points or tight spots - there is no such thing as 'breaking in' a boot to loosen it up.
  • The ankle should feel restricted and supported in a way you are not used to at first.
  • Walking boots will always feel stiffer to wear.
  • Zamberlan & Scarpa brands have an overall narrower fitting.
  • Merrell in general tend to be shorter, so for normal fitting, get a size larger.
  • The Meindl Matrei is our widest boot - perfect for anyone who requires a wide fitting.
  • Shoe-style footwear and sandals have a regular fit and size.

'The North Face Amongstit Mens Jacket'


The North Face Men's Amongstit Jacket is an insulated ski jacket inspired by the Arctic, a rugged, strong jacket you can trust, designed to perform in bitterly cold weather. This fully insulated parka style snow sports jacket is made with a fully seam-sealed HyVent, herringbone design shell that maintains your body's natural breath-ability while providing a complete waterproof protection, so you will be totally free from any lingering moisture that could cause discomfort. Optimal warmth comes courtesy of a sythetic HeatSeeker insulation and can be locked in by the adjustable hem system at the waist and cuffs. The zip ventilation in the pits of the coat will help to aid temperature regulation so that you wont get too hot on the slopes or when walking. Other features of this jacket include:

  • Snap down powder skirt to keep the snow and wet from kreeping in under your jacket.
  • An adjustable drop hood with detachable faux fur trim. The faux fur, as well as adding to the rugged parka style, also breaks the edge of the wind around your face in cold conditions.
  • A high rise collar to keep your neck warm.
  • A whole range of pockets to stash you possessions in, including, hand, bellowed, cargo style chest and hand pockets on the front of the jacket, wrist  and media pockets complete with headphone port.
  • Zipper under storm flap, which opens both top and bottom to allow easy access to your snow skirt and trouser pockets.

"This is a an excellent coat, very warm and windproof with a secure zipped pocket alongside the main zip. My only criticism is that the two breast pockets are not easy to reach."
